STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH

THE FAST TRACK GUIDE TO SHATIN 1

If Joao Moreira were an actor, he’d probably be Cantinflas and starring in Around The World In 80 Days. Or actually flying around the world in 80 hours.

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 1

In the past two weeks, The Magic Man of Swingabore racing who, after winning all eight races at a recent meeting, really has nothing to prove over there where racing is in reverse, is rumored to be riding in Hong Kong early next year, off to Japan to ride as the strict regulations that have kept foreign riders at bay will be loosened in 2014, or, being the family man that he is and missing his home country, will return to Brazil.

Whatever he chooses to do, Joao Moreira is a winner- a great jockey, tremendous role model, solid bloke and carrying zero negative baggage.

On the subject of jockeys and Japan, there really is some cockeyed optimism and wishful thinking on the part of a few jocks in Oz who think they’ll be allowed in.

Hell, Olivier Peslier can’t get in, but we know why THAT is!

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 2

Meanwhile, two Melbourne-based jockeys itching to return to that bookies playground that is Malaysia, speaks volumes as do some of the horses secretly owned in Western Australia by Singaporean and Malaysian connections who wouldn’t be able to lie straight in bed.

At the races tomorrow night will be some of the most famous snooker players in the world including world number one Neil Robertson- who also happen to be big racing fans.

THE FAST TRACKER ON THE FIRST HAPPY WEDNESDAY OF THE NEW SEASON

What I’ll be following tonight will be Giddy Up, which doesn’t run in any race, but is a real winner of a new Happy Wednesday theme song which will rock the foundations of 1 Sports Road and all who sail in her.

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 5

It will also give the mind-numbing CLS 1010 Challenge some extra balls when Ben Semmens and his band take to the stage of the Beer Garden, Giddy-up and let rip.

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 6

Frankly, it might be an idea to ring that 1010 ding dong bell onstage during this performance and confuse race-goers even more as to what is a very ill-conceived idea which defies logic.

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 7

As for the racing, we get to see how the new boys in town handle the idiosyncratic Happy Valley for the first time with all eyes on Italian Nico Penna and wondering if he just might ride off to the nearest McDonald’s and whether Donaghue is another Mick Kinane, another Kieron Fallon, Saint Bono or one of the Irish Rovers.

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 8

As for The Zac Attack and The Durban Demon, their rides are okay but which will offer little value and nothing that makes me grab my crotch like Michael Jackson and squeal.

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 9

With a Triple Trio top-off to be won, I would rather go for value and use Dicky Lui on Fortune Bravo as a banker in race 4, Alex Lai on Happy Champion in race 5 and only in race 6 would I perhaps- perhaps- consider the ride of Zac Purton- Braveness- which is drawn over in the carpark.

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 10

As for Dougie Whyte, I’ll go with his ride in race 1- Fresh Air- with some apprehension, but I really don’t expect much from him tonight except perhaps for a Royal wave. And even that might be asking for too much.

I’d wait for Sunday for the Whyte man to strike with silver bullets like the Lone Ranger and with Dennis Yip as Tonto.

THE FAST TRACKER’S TIPS FOR TONIGHT

THE FAST TRACK GUIDE TO SHATIN 46

I was only getting warmed up on Sunday and didn’t do as badly as our racing guru from the Big Apple who wiped out completely whereas The Third Dividend from Oz was amongst the winners without winning any cigar.

THE FAST TRACK RACING GUIDE FOR HAPPY VALLEY TONIGHT 11

But these are early days, so onwards and upwards with a huge caution sign as the Happy Valley track is notorious for making mugs of form, handicaps, barriers, speed maps, tips and “sure things”.

THE FAST TRACK ENTOURAGE SIX UP

sarika justin and natalie

Sarika, Justin and Natalie, our hosts of Finding Happy Wednesday, might have had their Six Up blown out of the water in the first leg, but four out of six winners ain’t bad.

Today, apart from the Six Up where the horses picked can come first OR second, Sarika would like to also tip a Quaddie for her legion of fans in Oz though it must be remembered that she tips almost anything ridden by her favorite jockey- Zac Purton.

SELECTIONS FROM THE BIG APPLE (@SW064351)

BEST BET

Race 6, No. 8 Seasons Star

Races best when fresh and a major contender with the low draw and weight pull.

SECOND BEST

Race 7, No. 2 Bullish Friend

Unfortunate not to win last start when beginning awkwardly and covering plenty of ground in the straight. Can make amends.

LONGSHOT

Race 8, No. 7 Ho Ho Life

Returns to pet distance against a suspect field where only one runner has won first-up. Rough place claims.
